A Little Bit About Cash App

Cash App is an online-payment mobile application that works as an alternative to traditional bank accounts and money transfer methods. With a Cash App account, users can send and receive money from friends and family members.

There aren’t any fees associated with transferring money via Cash App. However, there are certain conditions where charges apply, like depositing money from your credit card. It’s also worth mentioning that Cash App offers business accounts with different fees.

Do Prepaid Cards Work on Cash App?

Prepaid cards don’t work on Cash App unless they’re government-enabled.

If you have a government-enabled prepaid card, you can use it to send money to others. However, you won’t be able to deposit cash from your Cash App wallet to the card.

But why does Cash App accept government-enabled cards and not others? Well, there are several reasons for that, predominantly because these cards are used for monetary relief payments, unemployment benefits, and other types of government-related payments.

Prepaid cards that are picked up either online or in-person, on the other hand, probably won’t work with Cash App.

How to Link a Card to Your Cash App Account

Here’s how to add a new card to your Cash App account:

  • Open Cash App on your smartphone
  • Click the building icon at the bottom-left corner
  • Select “Add bank” and input your debit or credit card information to add the card

Alternative

If you don’t have a card, you can link your bank account instead. To do that, simply tap “No Card?” and choose your bank from the list, then enter your bank account details.

How to Apply for a Card to Use With Cash App

You don’t necessarily need to have a bank account to issue a card compatible with Cash App. Many banks and credit unions allow you to apply for cards that aren’t linked to a personal bank account.

Here are some popular cards that work with Cash App:

  1. Discover it Cash Back
  2. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
  3. Discover it Balance Transfer
  4. Chase Freedom Unlimited
  5. Chase Sapphire Preferred Card

However, keep in mind that getting accepted for some of these cards can be tricky if you have a poor credit score.

Of course, some second chance cards can be easier to apply for, but make sure that you spend wisely with them to avoid deteriorating your credit score even further.

Can I Load My Cash App Card at Walgreens?

Cash App users can load money on their Cash App card at any Walgreens store across the US. It’s one of the most convenient ways to add a balance to your account.

How Can I Put Money on My Cash App Without a Bank Account?

One way to add money to your Cash App account if you don’t have a bank account is to visit a store and ask the cashier if they offer Cash App money loading service.

Alternatively, you can request money from one of your Cash App contacts. Of course, you also have the option of requesting a Cash App card and using it to add money to your account.

How to Order Cash App’s Cash Card

The Cash Card is Cash App’s customizable debit card directly linked to your Cash App account. Getting a Cash App Cash Card is free of charge, and you can use it anywhere Visa cards are supported.

To apply for a Cash Card, follow these steps:

  1. Open Cash App on your phone
  2. Navigate to the Cash Card tab on the home screen
  3. Choose “Get Cash Card” and tap “Continue”

On a side note, remember that you must be an adult (18 years old or older) to apply for a Cash Card. Once you place your order, expect your card to arrive at your doorstep within 7-10 business days.

There are two ways to use your Cash Card: adding it to Google Pay or Apple Pay or entering the card details when processing a payment.

What Happens When the Card Linked to My Cash App Account Expires?

If your linked card expires, you won’t be able to use it with Cash App. However, once your card is renewed, you can continue using it with your account.

It’d be best if you renewed your card as soon as it expires in order to avoid getting your money transfers delayed. It’s also recommended that you add multiple cards to your account, just in case one of them expires.

Do Banks Impose Fees on Cards Linked to Cash App?

Banks don’t charge Cash App users any fees. So, using your card with Cash App is 100% free of charge in pretty much all banks across the country, but it wouldn’t hurt to check with your bank before signing up.
