Why is Cash App Having Connection Issues?

If you’re experiencing Cash App connection issues and your transactions are pending, you can check your bank account to see if the funds have been transferred. Also, check your internet speed because that may be the issue. And you can clear cookies to accelerate your internet.

If you’re receiving a Cash App error message that doesn’t include specific instructions, try these troubleshooting steps in order.

They usually often resolve most issues.

How to Fix Cash App Connection Issues?

  1. Make sure you’re connected to the internet
  2. Enough storage/memory is available on your device. 
  3. If you are using a VPN, turn it off to see if it resolves the connection issue.
  4. Log out of your Cash App account and back in. 
  5. Delete the Cash App and reinstall.
  6. Make sure your device OS is up to date.

Usually, these connection issues and error messages indicate you’re trying to do something in the Cash app that isn’t possible or isn’t allowed. 

If you’re trying to send a payment or direct transfer to a bank account, make sure you haven’t reached your limits.

Cash App “Bad state” errors 

This error message means Cash App is or was experiencing technical issues. If you tried to make a payment or bank transfer, check your transaction history in the app to determine if it was successful. If it failed, please try again later. 

Why You Can’t Connect to Cash App

You need to find out if your connection issues are related to your internet speed or if they’re experienced by other Cash App users in your area or around the globe.

1. Cash App Outages

There are currently no detected Cash App outage incidents, but we’ll tell you how you can confirm if one arises. You can check out reports about such issues on this Cash App outage map. Typically, they occur on the East Coast of the United States. Some small hotspots include San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

However, you should note that these reports are personal ones. They only entail that individual Cash App users have reported connection problems, which isn’t the same as the entire app crashing down in an outage.

As for collective outages, we’ll tell you how to handle them with the Cash App connection issues (2019) in mind. On the first of February, 2019, users reported unprocessed payments from about 1 p.m to 3 p.m Eastern. They announced that they couldn’t send or receive cash from other users on social media.

When that incident occurred, Cash App confirmed the outage on its Twitter support account. Its tweet reassured users that the Cash App team was working to catch up with the pending payments.

To elaborate, it stated that, “Some Cash App customers may still be experiencing delayed payments. If you’ve attempted to send or receive a payment and it’s pending, there’s no need to retry.” They added, “We’re working to get payments caught up and we’ll be back with more information soon.”

Accordingly, we urge you to follow Cash App Support’s Account on Twitter to be in the loop about any outages. Not to mention, the support team is reasonably responsive on the account, so you can try sending them a direct message with your problem.

And if you have a pending transaction, you can check your banking account to see if the transaction amount has been deducted or added. However, we don’t recommend resending payments, as that may result in double payments.

Tip: You may be operating on an old version of the app. Updates ensure that your app is compliant with the helpful portals and plugins and prevents “Transfer Failed” errors.

Typically, Cash App’s support team puts down such outages to heavy traffic, so waiting seems to be the only thing to do (aside from checking your bank account if you have pending payments).

2. Wifi/ Internet Connection Issues

In most cases, connection issues are because you’re unable to connect to the internet or your internet speed isn’t fast enough, especially when it comes to Cash App transactions. In other words, Cash App has nothing to do with it.

As sensitive transactions, Cash App transfers should be made when you have a stable and high-speed internet connection. Otherwise, you risk getting a “Transfer Failed” error message.

But how can you solve your internet connection issues? For one, you can try turning off your phone and turning it back on. If that doesn’t change anything, you can eject your sim card from your phone and clean it using a cloth. Next, put the card in the sim slot and gently insert it inside your phone. Then, try rerunning the app.

Furthermore, you can check your data cap. Most internet providers charge you more if you go past the package maximum. Nonetheless, some providers decrease your internet speed until the month is over. If you aren’t sure if that’s the case, you can refer to any paperwork from your internet provider or check their website.

Also, clearing your browser’s cache can be precisely what you need. Despite supposedly helping your browser run faster, the browser cache can be counterproductive if it’s full of unnecessary files. To clear your browser’s cache, you should:

  1. Tap the three-dotted icon to the top-right corner
  2. From the dropdown menu, choose “More Tools”
  3. Click “Clear browsing data”
  4. Check that the time range is “all time”
  5. Tick the box next to “Cached image and files” and the one next to “Cookies and other site data”
  6. Select “Clear data”

Why Has My Cash App Transaction Failed?

There are various reasons for a failed transaction, but here are the main ones. For one, your bank may be blocking the transfer, meaning that you’ll need to get your bank to unblock Cash App.

Otherwise, you may not have the necessary funds to make the transaction. Last but not least, you might need to update your Cash App version or accelerate your internet connection.

Why Can’t I Use Cash App on My Bank Account?

If your bank has blocked your transactions with Cash App, you should contact your bank and request that they authorize transactions with the app. The process shouldn’t take you over 5 minutes.

Overall, Connection issues are rooted in one of two things: Cash App outages and poor internet connection issues. In the case of an outage, that’s usually due to heavy traffic, and Cash App support systems work to resolve those problems.
